Find answers to your questions regarding the SQE and qualifying work experience (QWE) confirmation process.
What is QWE?
Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) is a necessary component of your solicitor qualification process under the SQE route. It involves two years of training that must be confirmed by a qualified solicitor.
Who can confirm my QWE?
Your QWE can be confirmed by a solicitor or a qualified individual at your organization, or an external solicitor, if your employer cannot provide it.
How long is the process?
The review and confirmation of your QWE can typically be completed within a few weeks, depending on the complexity and required documentation.
What information will I need to provide on the application form?
Providing you meet our eligibility requirements, we will send you an application form to complete and return.
You will need to provide your details and those of all QWE employer(s)/supervisor(s).

As part of the QWE confirming process, we will reach out to your employer(s) to establish your role and QWE period and your supervisor(s) for feedback.
How do you conduct your review of my QWE?
You will be assigned a ClearQWE Assessor to conduct a review and confirm of your QWE.
It is a requirement that we can review your work, showing how you have been able to develop some or all of the competencies under the Statement of Solicitor Competence (SRA | Statement of solicitor competence | Solicitors Regulation Authority).

You can either submit workplace examples via email or a virtual call can be arranged. If you have a training record/diary, it is helpful to submit this also.

Please ensure that you can provide workplace examples for at least 2 of the competencies.

Please note, it is your responsibility to ensure all workplace evidence is redacted to protect third party names and contact details.
How will you confirm my QWE with the SRA?
Once you have received confirmation that ClearQWE's Assessor is happy to confirm your QWE, please submit your application via the SRA website; see link https://www.sra.org.uk/become-solicitor/sqe/qualifying-work-experience-candidates/registering-qualifying-work-experience/
for guidance issued by the SRA on how to do this.

Once you have submitted your application, your ClearQWE Assessor will receive a prompt from the SRA to confirm your QWE online and will confirm with you when this has been completed.
